This morning I woke up to an email from USPS saying that my package from <a href="http://rhinestonetemplates.com/" target="_blank">Rhinestonetemplates.com </a>was on the truck for delivery. I was sooo excited... I kept looking out the window for the mail truck and at about 10:30 I saw him across the street. He delivered our mail, but no there was no package! :( About 20 minutes later, my doorbell rang and it was the mailman with my box. He missed it the first time around. Shew! :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I belong to a few crafting groups on Facebook, which are really great for inspiration and is where I found out about Rhinestone Templates by SandyJo. I kept see all the cool projects people were doing and I told myself, "Jenn you need to get on the bling train!" Sandy Jo put a starter kit on sale on her website, so I took the plunge and purchased it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I won't go into all the details with how to do it, but you can Youtube Silhouette and rhinestones and will find a ton of how to videos. Below is my finished project. It doesn't look like much, but for my first one, I am pretty proud of myself! :) </div>

<br />
Since my last post, I purchased a Silhouette Cameo and I am in LOVE!!!! I still have my Circut Expression, but have doing most of my crafting on the Cameo. My favorite part is being able to purchase what is needed through the Silhouette online store and most items are only 99 cents! They also give away a free shape each Tuesday. I knew I was wanted to purchase a Cameo so as soon as I leared about it, so I signed up for the free shapes about 6 months before I got my machine. Can't wait to share all the new projects in the works. <br />
<br />
I have a baby shower to go to this weekend, so what better project to do then the cupcake box with onsies! I saw this post on pinterest <a href="http://club.chicacircle.com/cupcake-onesies-gift-idea/">http://club.chicacircle.com/cupcake-onesies-gift-idea/</a> 99% of all my projects and ideas come from Pinterest. Love it!<br />
<br />
I started by downloading a cupcake box file by Lori Whitlock from the Silhouette online store. One of the things I love most about the items purchased from Silhouette is when you add the item to your cutting mat, it comes out perfectly sized! No guess work involved.<br />
<br />
I completely forgot to take a pic of all the pieces once they were cut out because I was too excited to put it together. Lori has a great video on YouTube for assembly instructions, so I watched this first before trying to put it together. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeDt8D8OF6E">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeDt8D8OF6E</a> It looks a little overwhelming once you have all the piece cut out, but with the video it is a piece of cake to put together. <br />
<br />
The top of the cupcake box didn't have a hole to see inside so I added one. I only had vellum on hand, but next time would use something more see-through. (Anyone have any ideas what I should use?) You have to put together each side of the box together for the top and bottom, so my adhesive of choice is my ATG tape gun. Who loves their ATG? Mine is my baby and I use it for everything. <br />
<br />
Here is a completed picture of the box. Super easy to put together and looks so stinkin' cute! <br />

We sure did! :) One of my goals this year is to get back on track with blogging and to do a weekly posting. Below is my first post of the year! <br />
<br />
Today's card was a quick and easy one from the Artiste cartridge and another that I will put away and use when needed. <br />
<br />
The card and envelope were cut at 8 1/2 inches and is from page 58 in the handbook. The Thank you sentiment was cut at 1 3/4 inches and is on page 65. It was hard to get a good picture because the paper was shiny, so below was my best attempt.<br />

My Reading nook is coming along nicely and am hoping to get it painted this weekend. I will definitely post before and after pics when it is all done. Hope everyone has a great weekend!Sparky's Shenaniganshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05271622016473260877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811085455536324349.post-29865509180227873112012-11-04T19:29:00.000-08:002012-11-04T19:29:25.834-08:00You're the Bomb from Wild Card 2Today my husband was working on the reading nook in my craftoom (YAY!) so I spent some time crafting while he was working. :)<br />
<br />
You're the Bomb is from Wild Card 2 and is too funny. One of our friends is having a birthday tomorrow, and I thought it would be the perfect card for him.<br />
<br />
The card and envelope were cut out at 4 3/4 inches and it sure had a ton of layers!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGFzVbgfYsf4JlGyhIvCpg6Dg1OEXFkIqxOZ-UP7VQibdrWL5Nt6JwoFY7DbPk6BXcgR6drFteELmFT7SaMyquxvjYDRVXD2ieF0NiBdgehFK9Dl-npVk3O-SJKRbF1gidMujGvIbitJM/s1600/DSC08689.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The paper I used was all given to me, so I am not sure where it came from. I also put a silver brad in the hands of the clock to give it a little something extra.</div>

It really has a ton of cute card ideas! <br />
<br />
This card is for my sister-in-law and her fiance who are buying their first house. Because they were already living in the house they purchased, I wanted to do something special once they signed the papers and the house was finally theirs! :)
<br />

<br />
The card and envelope were cut out at 4.75 inches. The booklet says 4.5 inches, but I always check to see if I can cut it bigger. :) I used some kind of pop dots (can't remember exactly which brand) to pop up the house on the front and also the welcome home on the inside of the card. A pewter colored brad was used for the door knob.<br />
<br />
The paper (except for the card and envelope) were all left over scraps. A lot of my paper and card stock was given to me by friends that either have too many supplies or aren't scrapbooking anymore, so I don't know where a lot of it came from.<br />
<br />
Congrats Brandi and Kyle on your new house!!!!!!!! :) :)<br />

My cousin and a friend were just married and I wanted to make a special card for them. I scrap lifted this idea from Everyday Cricut (<a href="http://www.cricutholiday.com/2012/08/cricut-artiste-wedding-card.html">http://www.cricutholiday.com/2012/08/cricut-artiste-wedding-card.html</a>) who have made some great projects with the Artiste cartridge. </div>

Their wedding colors are navy blue and light blue, so I wanted to make something that reflected those colors. On the Artiste cartridge I used the heart envelope on page 36 and cut it out at 4.25 inches. For the card I used the one on page 56 and it was cut out at 4.5 inches. The stamp on the inside of the card is from Inkadinkado and is number 97892. There are some really cute wedding stamps on this set.<br />
<br />
The wedding was last night and it was so fun! :) My husband was one of the groomsmen, and he looked very handsome in his suit. Congrats Dave and Kerri! </div>

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a day all to myself yesterday, so I got some crafting time in! :) <br />
<br />
Here is a quick project using the Artiste Cartridge and what I like to call the magazine holder on page 47.

Wow, I can't believe it has been almost a month since my last post! Life has been crazy busy!! :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thank you cards are something I never have on hand, but always need, so I though it would be a good idea to make the Thanks a Bunch card on Wild Card 2. </div>

The card and envelope were cut at 5 inches. The booklet says to cut out at 4.5 inches, but I was able to get it to fit at 5. Putting the card together actually took a little thinking because there are 6 layers of bananas to put together, but it looks really cool when all put together.</div>

I am just getting over a small flu bug, but am finally feeling better today. I hope everyone is having a good weekend! :)</div>

I let her look through the Artiste cartridge booklet and she wanted to make the mailbox. It was cut out at 3 inches.<br />

One of my friends is moving into a new apartment, so I thought this was a good excuse to make a cute card for her. I decided on the Owl card. He is soooo cute! :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cut the card and envelope out at 4.75. The best thing about this card was, except for the envelope, was the rest of the paper were left over scraps. :) I save most of my scraps and it felt good to actually use them. On the inside of the card, I cut out the words "Whooooo's Moving?? :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also tried to cut out a flower from the Artiste cartridge and glue it to the front of the envelope, but it kept unraveling. I didn't really have anything small enough to wrap it around. After looking on Youtube (another wonderful resources for crafting) I saw a few people use a paper piercer which is on my list for the next trip to the craft store. </div>
<br />
Hopefully I will have some time this weekend to make some projects with the Artiste cartridge. There are sooo many things I want to make from it, that I don't know where to start! :)Sparky's Shenaniganshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05271622016473260877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811085455536324349.post-65074334095639995092012-08-12T22:22:00.001-07:002012-08-12T22:22:53.152-07:00Yay for the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge :)Today I spend ALOT of time in my craft room, which was awesome! I really got to play around with the Close to My Heart Artiste cartridge which was soooo much fun! I usually need to have a reason to craft something and have a hard time making things just for the fun of it. With this cartridge, it was definitely easy to find things to make!<br />
<br />
I love how an assembly book was included in the cartridge. It made putting the items together so much easier. <br />
<br />

This box definitely says Christmas, so I choose some poinsettia paper from a paper pad called O'Christmas Tree from Recollections. I didn't quite have the right ribbon on hand to tie up the box, but you get the idea. This box is on page 34 in the handbook and was cut out at 4.5 inches. </div>

The next one is on page 37 and was cut at 4 inches. This one reminds me of a happy meal box, so that's my nickname for this one. :) This cardstock was given to me, so I'm not sure where it from, but it is a mint green color.<br />

This one is on page 48 and is cut out at 3.2 inches. I think this one is my favorite and reminds me of a hat box. I also cut out the bow on page 55 and used a silver brad to hold it together. The pattern paper is a paper pad from DCWV called The Naturals Stack. </div>

<br />
The next shape I made was the candy box. This is on page 68 and was cut out at 11 inches. The paper is from the O'Christmas Tree Recollections paper pad. I used some curling ribbon to bring the edges together. This will be another fun one for Christmas gifts.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last one I had time for was on page 69 and was cut out at 3.5 inches. I really like this one as well and has some great potential for being a treat box to give out a Christmas time. It's kind of hard to see, but I placed some vellum on the underside of the lid, so there wasn't actually a hole, but you can kind of see through it. The pattern paper is from Me & My Big ideas and the paper pad is called Specialty Cardstock. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This cartridge has sooo much more to offer and I can't wait to play around with it some more. I have a feeling it is going to come in very handy at Christmas time as well. :) Hope everyone had a great weekend and here's to a good week! </div>

Last week I went on a little buying spree, which is very unusual for me. I purchased Wild Card 2 and the Close To My Heart cartridge Artiste with the coordinating chip boards and stamp sets. I am beyond excited to try each one and hope to break them out this weekend. <br />
<br />
Things have been crazy this week and I haven't had much time to craft at all. Willy (our new puppy) is growing so fast already and turns 9 weeks today. I now know why puppies are so cute... it's because they can be very naughty! :) Fortunately, he hasn't chewed up anything (yet) but he is definitely a bitter which we will need to nip in the butt. <br />
<br />
Hope everyone is having a great week and hopefully I will be able to post some cool projects this weekend! :)Sparky's Shenaniganshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05271622016473260877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811085455536324349.post-86107516887389821262012-08-01T20:28:00.002-07:002012-08-01T20:28:15.203-07:00Masculine Birthday Card with Wild Card FatherShew... life sure has been busy with the new puppy in town! I was able to sit down tonight for a bit and make a birthday card for my father-in-law for his birthday tomorrow. It was made with the Wild Card cartridge. I used the Father card on page 66. I cut the card and envelope out at 4 1/2 inches. I also cut out the envelope liner, frame for the card and both icons, the fish and grass. <br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Today is my husband's 35th birthday!! This year I decided to make him a monkey card since he was called a monkey when he was a baby.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The idea for this card came from this post. <a href="http://therobbsbloggingalong.blogspot.com/2008/07/cricut-monkey.html">http://therobbsbloggingalong.blogspot.com/2008/07/cricut-monkey.html</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was SUPER easy to make. I cute the shapes out directly with my Expression which I haven't done is forever! It was kind of fun to use the Expression and not cut shapes out through Cricut Craftroom. I followed the instructions exactly at the above post and this my version of the card.</div>

I am just entering into the world of stamping and so far LOVE it!!! The "it's your birthday!" and the "let's party!" stamps are from the Birthday Cheer pack from Fiskars. The six pack is from a company called Stamps Happen and the set is called Summer Fun.</div>

The envelope for this card was made with the Martha Stewart Scoreboard. I cut out a piece of card stock at 8 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches and then scored each side at 3 1/8 inches. Glued the sides together and viola! </div>

I decided to use Kerr wide mouthed mason jars which you can purchase at Walmart for about $11 for 12 jars. Using the Cricut and my various cartridges, I have so far managed to make each one with a different font and layout. <br />

On the bottom of each jar I wrote the date as well. The plan is to have them nicely displayed somewhere in the house, but my husband and I haven't quite figured out where yet. :) It is really cool to see each jar side by side to see the different color and texture of each jar. Unfortunately, it's hard to see it in the pictures, but there is definitely a difference between each one. <br />

My craftroom is coming along very nicely, but isn't picture worthy yet. Crafting has resumed which makes me (and my husband, haha) VERY happy!<br />
<br />
Yesterday I made a birthday card for my husband's Grandmother. She is turning 84! :) I used the Tweety design on the original Wild Card Cricut cartridge. I cut the card and envelope out at 5 inches, along with the envelope liner, card, card liner, frame, and the little bird. :) <br />

I added some little diamonds for the eye of the bird as well as to accent the Happy Birthday. I cut the Happy Birthday and the word "grandma" out from the Lyrical Letters cartridge which was some great fonts!<br />
<br />
Hope everyone has a good week! :) <br />

We were chatting about plans and she mentioned she needed to get a binder to collect all of her papers in. So.... I made a quick trip to Michael's to get some paper and embellishments and Staples for a 1 1/2 inch binder and white dividers. The wedding will be sometime in October 2013 and their colors are going to be slate grey and rusty orange. Super cute!!<br />

Using my Cricut Expression, I cut out the words Brandi & Kyle 2013 using the Lyrical Letters cartridge with the Connected Font. My favorite adhesive right now is my ATC gun, but unfortunately I couldn't use it with this project. I used Tombo Mona Aqua liquid glue to stick on the letters.</div>

Tonight on the way home from work, I am going to pick up the sealer and seal both pieces along with the drawers. We have a few more busy days, which will be perfect for drying time, since I am soooo impatient. :) <br />
<br />
Hope everyone has a great 4th! <br />

The desk is coming along nicely. I was able to put one coat of white paint on the desk and the second coat of blue on the drawers last night. :) (even though the desk does look blue, it is indeed white)<br />

The next 3 nights and the weekend are booked, so I probably won't be able to do any work on the desk. :( Hopefully next week, the desk makeover will continue! I REALLY, REALLY want to get back to crafting!!</div>Sparky's Shenaniganshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05271622016473260877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811085455536324349.post-31019689652603914472012-06-24T21:50:00.001-07:002012-06-24T21:50:03.986-07:00A little side project - desk makeoverSo, I started putting the room back together this morning and was looking at my oak, L-shaped desk, thinking how nice it would be if it was white. Well, a while back I pinned (yes, another Pinterest idea, hehe) a how-to on painting furniture.<br />
<br />
After a trip to Ace Hardware, I finally had all the supplies to begin. The first step was to sand the parts of the desk I wanted to paint with 80 grit sand paper and an electric sander. I did not sand any spots that wouldn't be seen, like the underside of the desk or the sides of the drawers. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRcT7cbKJ6L0GkCaFPVZrScvit-FT7-dTz2zDsBz66WDe1dRGtFmne0J5P7UStseuqVI17bbqyx6ebqSRlj4-hspBtoaH-SpgSi9SwdLoopG2nQg7eKe6txU4trySqmUAquPNEZ_qGsXA/s1600/3068A849-DB7A-438D-BD66-6F533F00A987.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRcT7cbKJ6L0GkCaFPVZrScvit-FT7-dTz2zDsBz66WDe1dRGtFmne0J5P7UStseuqVI17bbqyx6ebqSRlj4-hspBtoaH-SpgSi9SwdLoopG2nQg7eKe6txU4trySqmUAquPNEZ_qGsXA/s320/3068A849-DB7A-438D-BD66-6F533F00A987.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I wiped everything down with a damp cloth to get all the dust off. The next step was to primer everything that was previously sanded. This was a LOT of work, but hopefully it will pay off in the end.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLtLJJ3kAKVM3fGDRsHGKNNRNk_ffRXQoBMJovbip4y1A0ybbLOSo_RwVB-YmeqFvQxCHwVMRFGGFtprMxqw_wI6HbBM_t_cS4Mb_aIR7kYifiOxqhFM05rBhQpge9k2LZHUFF8s1LAYw/s1600/69ADE732-E4B2-495D-840E-E68DA1ACC30C.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLtLJJ3kAKVM3fGDRsHGKNNRNk_ffRXQoBMJovbip4y1A0ybbLOSo_RwVB-YmeqFvQxCHwVMRFGGFtprMxqw_wI6HbBM_t_cS4Mb_aIR7kYifiOxqhFM05rBhQpge9k2LZHUFF8s1LAYw/s320/69ADE732-E4B2-495D-840E-E68DA1ACC30C.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I decided to put 2 coats of primer on the tops of both desks since they are so heavily used. After a few hours of patiently waiting (which was SUPER hard!) I very lightly sanded the surfaces of the drawers to get rid of any drips and brush marks from the primer and started with the first coat of paint. The first drawer was painted with a crappy paint brush and I was very unhappy with the way it turned out. Referring to the trusty Pinterest article, it said to use something called Floetrol to help with brush streaks. So, off to Ace again to pick up a better quality brush and a bottle of Floetrol. :) <br />
<br />
I painted the drawers the same color as the walls of my newly painted room since there was some left over paint. I was able to get 1 coat on all the drawers and desktop organizer before it got too dark and chilly. Tomorrow after work, I hope to put 1 coat of white paint on the desks and then 2nd coat of blue paint on the drawers. Can't wait!!<br />

Yay!! :) This weekend is going to be a busy one but I hope to start putting the room back together and get back to crafting!!Sparky's Shenaniganshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05271622016473260877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811085455536324349.post-60018573473121743172012-06-20T21:26:00.001-07:002012-06-21T08:15:30.674-07:00Wall painting done!I just finished putting the 2nd coat of paint on the walls!! Yay! My hubby also removed the door to my craft room along with all the hardware. I put two coats on the front of the door, so tomorrow I will finish up the back side. <br />
<br />
My hubby is also going to pick up some pewter spray paint tomorrow so I can try something out that I saw on Pinterest (which I am totally addicted to!) All the door knobs and hinges in our house are gold brass... Yuck! So I am going to attempt to spray paint them a pewter color. I will definitely post before and after pics!<br />
<br />
My plan for tomorrow is to finish up the door and to do any touch up on the base boards and trim. The room is coming along very nicely!! :)<br />
